| Biography |
Maruki Toshi (1912-2000) was a Taisho to Heisei period Western-style painter. Born in Hokkaido, she graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design. She experienced Hiroshima first-hand, immediately after the atomic bombing. Together with her husband Iri, she completed all fifteen panels of the "The Hiroshima Panels" from 1948 to 1977. She is a recipient of the International Peace Prize. |
