Biography

1807-1862

Okamoto Shuki was a painter from the late Edo period. He served the Odawara domain of the Okubo clan and studied under the painters, such as Onishi Keisai and Watanabe Kazan. He was influenced by the works of Shen Quan and the paintings of the Ming and Qing dynasty, and became distinguished as a talented realist flower-and-bird painter.
