Takada Makoto

Biography

Takada Makoto (1913-1992) was a Western-style painter of the Taisho to Heisei period. Born in Saitama, he studied under Atomi Yutaka and later with Yasui Sotaro. His works were exhibited at the Issui-kai ten, Shinbunten and Nitten. He was also a lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts, School of Education, Saitama University, President of the Saitamaken Bijyutsuka Kyokai (Saitama Artists Association) and on the council of Nitten. Makoto received the Nitten Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts for his famous work "Woodland Lanscape". He is a recipient of the Saitama Prefecture Person of Merit in Education and the Japan Art Academy Award, and on the Nitten board of directors, a designated Saitama Prefecture Person of Cultural Merit and a member of the Japan Arts Academy.
